Sao Joaquim

Sao Joaquim is situated at an altitude of 1.360m, it is considered the coldest city in Brazil and famous for snow that fall each winter. Date of foundation- April 7, 1887.

The city's economy was based on farming, but was largely influenced by the culture of the apple, which began in the 1970s. Today, Sao Joaquin is the largest producer of fruit in the state, with over 600 small producers.

The new activity of production is......WINE! Today there is seven wineries that are recognized nationally.
